This is a very powerful blender! I have used it everyday for 2 weeks and have not seen any leaking.

My first blender – a Chrome Oster Classic Blender w/ a Glass Pitcher was a wedding present, and was pricey. I thought that blender was top of the line at one time. Who knew? I thought that a blender that you might frequently find behind a high volume bar/restaurant would surely hold up to the type of use I would place it through at home (protein shakes, smoothies and the like). After only a few being of light use, the pitcher and base of my Oster Classic stripped out, making it nearly impracticable to turn the blades and mix anything. The blender was LOUD, quirky – and usually left a few huge chunks of ice in my protein shakes. I finally realized I had to replace it. I opted for this blender – which is also the blender my gym uses. After every workout – the personal trainers make a thick protein shake for all of their clients. Their kitchen aid blender gets used….a lot. The gym’s blender makes on average 25-35 shakes a day – and they have had the same blender for over 4 being.

I bought this blender – and wish it would have been my first blender buy! Silent! Smooth! No ice chunks left in the bottom of my smoothie! Simple to clean…and super cool colors. All at a fantastic price.

The KEY to this blender is the design of the base and the pitcher. It is made with a 12 prong locking mechanism that is rubber coated. (No 4 sided metal prong to strip out). Excellent job Kitchen Aid!

I was a small disappointed at first because I thought I ordered the one with the glass pitcher, but this was polycarbonate. I thought it would not hold up, but it has been splendid. It crushes ice really well and it is a small quieter than the one I replaced. I make a lot of smoothies and it really does a splendid job of blending everything.

This is a very solid blender with a ton of power, but it is not without its caveats.

First, it is loud. Very loud. I’m worried to use it past 10 PM because I don’t want my neighbors to be upset. Ice crush mode is nearly deafening.

Second, it may be too powerful for its pitcher. The spiraling blade assembly on my blender broke after a few months of use and it appears from other reviews that I am not alone in having that problem. I was making a smoothie with frozen strawberries and ice and the assembly broke and made some dreadful noises, then leaked everywhere. KitchenAid replaced my pitcher very cordially and it took a week to receive a replacement. I believe the problem might be from not putting a excellent amount of pressure on the pitcher while it was blending, so I’ll update this review accordingly after trying that with this second attempt.

I like the way this thing looks and feels and I’d despise to have to buy a new one. I highly doubt there’s another blender in the same price range that offers the same power and solid (with one exception) construction, so I’m land out with a small bit of faith for the rest of my warranty.

I’ve owned this blender for roughly 5 months now and use it nearly every day. I have to say, that I like this blender. I use it primarily for breakfast shakes & mixed drinks. It blends fruit to a smooth texture. I despise smoothies or mixed drinks with a stout or gritty texture to them, and this blender makes them them very smooth and nearly sweet.

There are three things that are not so splendid in this area the blender, but it’s pluses more than make up for them. You have to be careful not to add too much ice. When the shake get’s too thick the blender will form an air bubble just above the blades and not mix at all. If you balance your ice/liquid ratio though, you will have no problems. The lid is a small too flexable, it can sometimes leak or come loose as a result, so you have to watch it. The last thing is sometimes the blender will leak a very small amount around the blade at the base when you are blending thin liquids (like hot water), but it is very small and very simple to clean up. Really it just forms a light film with no drips around the inside of the base of the pitcher.

Over all, I highly recommend this blender. I have never had one that blends the ice and fruit so smooth. I am very lucky with it.

I formerly bought a Cuisinart which died in 2 weeks. The kitchenaid is awesome! This unit is far more powerful, crushes ice and frozen berries into a very smooth and evenly mixed smoothie, is quieter, never need to push down ingredients and pours out of the pitcher perfectly. I make very thick smoothies which I eat with a serve and the kitchenaid doesn’t struggle at all. I like it!

I’ve had my new KitchenAid blender for in this area a month, and I’m so sorry I didn’t buy it sooner. It’s fantastic!! The pitcher is huge so no problem with overflowing liquids. It makes a mean margarita because the ice crushing function is splendid. There are 5 speeds for all your blending needs, and plenty of power. Clean up is simple because the chassis is very stramlined with no protruding buttons to catch food and sticky liquids. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
